Production Process
Grape Harvest
OctoberUgni Blanc grapes are harvested in autumn from the chalky terroir of the Cognac region, prized for their high acidity.
Winemaking
3–4 weeksGrapes are pressed and fermented into a thin, acidic white wine — the perfect base for distillation.
Double Distillation
24 hours × 2The wine undergoes two distillations in traditional Charentais copper pot stills (alambic), a process unchanged for centuries.
Oak Ageing
2–100+ yearsThe eau-de-vie is aged in Limousin or Tronçais oak barrels, where it develops amber colour, vanilla notes and complexity.
Blending
MonthsThe Cellar Master blends eaux-de-vie of different ages, crus and styles to create the house's signature expression.
Bottling
Final stageAfter a final rest period, the cognac is brought to bottling strength and presented in its distinctive bottle.
The Story of Maison Hennessy
Hennessy is the world's largest cognac producer, founded by Irish officer Richard Hennessy. The house holds the world's largest reserve of eaux-de-vie, some dating back to the 19th century. Its Tasting Committee has met every morning since 1765 to assess and blend spirits, maintaining an unbroken tradition of excellence.
