From Source to Spirit
Production Process
Agave Harvest
7–10 years growthMature blue agave (7–10 years old) are harvested by jimadores who strip the leaves to reveal the piña (heart).
Cooking
24–72 hoursPiñas are slowly roasted in traditional stone ovens or autoclaves to convert starches into fermentable sugars.
Crushing & Extraction
HoursCooked piñas are crushed using a tahona (volcanic stone wheel) or roller mills to extract the sweet agave juice.
Fermentation
3–12 daysThe extracted juice ferments naturally or with added yeast in wooden or steel tanks, developing complex flavour compounds.
Distillation
4–8 hours × 2Double distillation in copper pot stills refines the spirit. The distiller carefully selects only the heart of the run.
Ageing
0–5+ yearsReposado (2–12 months), Añejo (1–3 years) or Extra Añejo (3+ years) in oak barrels develop depth and character.
The Story of Casamigos
Founded by George Clooney, Rande Gerber, and Mike Meldman, Casamigos began as a private tequila for the founders and their friends. The name means "house of friends." Made from hand-selected 100% Blue Weber agave, each expression is aged longer than required by law, resulting in ultra-smooth, highly sippable tequila.
