Production Process
Raw Material Selection
SeasonalPremium grains (wheat, rye) or potatoes are selected for their purity and starch content — the foundation of quality vodka.
Mashing & Fermentation
2–4 daysGrains are milled, mixed with water and enzymes to convert starch to sugar, then fermented with yeast.
Multi-Stage Distillation
ContinuousContinuous column distillation to extremely high proof (95%+), sometimes distilled 3–5 times for absolute purity.
Filtration
HoursExtensive filtration through charcoal, diamond dust, or other materials removes impurities for a crystal-clear spirit.
Water Blending
PrecisePure spring or artesian water is added to bring the spirit to bottling strength (typically 40% ABV).
Bottling
ContinuousThe vodka is bottled in carefully designed packaging, often with multiple quality checks for consistency.
The Story of Absolut (Åhus)
Absolut Vodka has been produced in Åhus, southern Sweden, since 1879. Unlike most vodkas, Absolut is made from locally sourced winter wheat and pristine deep well water. The entire production process — from grain to bottle — takes place in and around this small Swedish town, embodying the concept of "One Source.".
